Context
According to the UN, one in four girls in Brazil has missed school due to a lack of access to menstrual products. To address this issue, in 2022, the Municipal Department of Education of Recife partnered with Serenas to develop a program that combines education and awareness to break taboos and promote access to information on menstrual health and reproductive rights.

Our work
This partnership led to the creation of the Cycle of Care Program, designed to transform how girls and women relate to their menstrual health. The initiative included dialogue circles in public schools with students aged 10 to 15, discussing social, biological, and emotional aspects of menstruation and creating spaces for listening and learning. We also produced educational booklets tailored for students, families, and educators, complementing the distribution of menstrual products carried out by the city.
