Context
In Brazil, technology-facilitated gender-based violence disproportionately affects girls and women—especially in a context where digital access is rapidly expanding. Despite the urgent need for digital literacy and online safety, educators often lack the tools to address these issues in schools.
To help change that, Serenas was invited by the Secretariat for Social Communication of the Presidency of Brazil to develop a course designed to empower teachers with knowledge and strategies to protect girls in digital spaces.

Our work
That’s how “Escolas ON, Violências OFF” Education for Girls’ Online Safety was born—a course created for public school teachers across the country.
Serenas led the content development, implementation, and launch of this online course, which includes written materials and video lessons with accessibility features.
With a total workload of 20 hours, the course is structured in five modules that combine theoretical and practical content on technology-facilitated gender-based violence. It is freely available on the Brazilian National School of Public Administration’s (ENAP) e-learning platform, the Virtual School of Government (EVG).

Impact
government leaders, technical teams, and civil society representatives attended the pre-launch event and became ambassadors of the course.
people enrolled within the first two months, from all Brazilian states and seven other countries.
media stories covered the initiative, including features on federal government outlets, TV Senado, and TV Cultura.
